The End of the Line (A Brief Encounter)
Peter Wiegold The End of The Line (A Brief Encounter) (world première)
Stations are places where journeys both begin and come to an end: the hope of arrival, the regret of departure, the euphoria of meeting, the melancholy of goodbye.
As the day comes to close, over 200 RNCM musicians will come together to perform The End Of The Line (A Brief Encounter), a unique musical installation that explores these themes, conceived and directed by composer Peter Wiegold to fill the public spaces of Manchester Piccadilly train station. You can catch many of the individual elements of the piece in the station over the day itself, before the full hour-long performance in the evening.
Following Shattered Sounds at Imperial War Museum North and Art of Sound : Sound of Art at the Whitworth Art Gallery, The End Of The Line (A Brief Encounter) is the latest in the RNCM’s series of large-scale summer projects.
A RNCM production in association with Network Rail.
