A witty tale of intrigue and misunderstanding featuring some of Mozart's most moving arias...

In keeping with the vogue for all-things-Italian, Mozart chose to set a text by gifted librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte, based on Beaumarchais’ recently-banned comedy La Folle Journée, ou le Mariage de Figaro. A libidinous count attempts to seduce the fiancée of his servant, but is outwitted by an alliance between the servants and his own long-suffering wife. Bursting with intrigue and misunderstanding, Mozart’s Figaro is an extraordinarily witty masterpiece. Its magic lies in the deep emotion the composer reveals in what are some of his most moving arias and some of the greatest ensemble pieces ever written. This new production, sung in Italian, is sure to be a hot pre-Christmas ticket.
