Concluding RNCM Saxophone Day 2008, we present a double-bill of world class artists covering both classical and jazz idioms.

Sax virtuoso Otis Murphy opens this show with a programme of music from the classical saxophone tradition with his long time duo partner Haruko Murphy.

The second half features a full 90 minute set from US sax dynamo Chris Potter. You may know Chris from his work with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Dave Holland and Steve Swallow, to name just a few. He also received a Grammy award for his solo work on Joanne Brackeen's album Pink Elephant Magic.

In this rare visit to the UK, Chris plays a blistering set of cutting-edge jazz with the super-charged electric group that features on his latest album Underground.  The Guardian identified Potter as one of the best sax players on the planet and in a review of the album Underground concluded "it would be a killer to hear it live". So don't miss it!
