Music for Health is now an established programme at the RNCM, creating appropriate music for health and social care settings.
START - Arts and Mental Health
Last year, RNCM Music for Health worked with START participants, creating soundtracks for animations that explore issues around maintaining balance in a busy and stressful world. The exhibition, HELD, ran at Manchester Art Gallery until 6th July.Click here for details.
Music for Health Learning Programme
With support from Greater Manchester Strategic Alliance
Music for Health at the Royal Northern College of Music (Centre for Excellence in Teaching and learning) has been working collaboratively with the Greater Manchester Strategic Alliance (GMSA) on a pioneering Music for Health Learning Programme that brought musicians and healthcare practitioners closer together. This 12 month pilot included;
- Formation of a Music for Health Learning Programme Steering Group
- Co-ordination of two action learning healthcare residencies for musicians and healthcare practitioners (the first to run in March 2008 in conjunction with Musique et Sante, Paris and LIME, Manchester)
- Pilot programme of CPD seminars and workshops and the development of Music for Health web resources
- Dissemination of monthly Information Advice and Guidance bulletin to learning communities
- Market Research across music and healthcare learner constituencies
- Evaluative report documenting the results of the pilot and highlighting the potential for benchmarked and accredited progression routes
