Graduate School course information

The RNCM offers a superb environment for advanced musical studies in performance (including conducting) and composition. The Graduate School provides a rich variety of courses of study which train instrumentalists, singers, conductors and composers to a fully professional level.

The Graduate School will offer four distinct levels of programme - a wide-ranging portfolio of studies at Masters and Postgraduate Diploma level, flagship courses leading to the RNCM International Artist Diploma, a full MPhil/PhD programme, plus innovative vocational training programmes.

Entrants to the Graduate School must normally hold a first degree or equivalent (or be of equivalent professional standing). This qualification need not be in music, but all candidates must be able to satisfy the College that they have already achieved an advanced standard of performance in their Principal Study discipline, and have the potential to develop further towards a professional level of attainment. In addition, candidates for the degrees of Master of Music, Master of Philosophy, and Doctor of Philosophy must be able to satisfy the College that they have a sufficient level of academic experience and potential to fulfill the requirements of these awards. All Graduate School programmes, with the exception of the MPhil/PhD, are full-time modes of study.
