Other performance opportunities

There are a growing number of other performance opportunities available to students studying at the RNCM. Instrumental and chamber performances are programmed into many festivals and focus days, including lunchtime and late-night performances, or more informal opportunities in the RNCM’s café bar.

The Spotlight series, a programme of free student performance in advance or after evening concerts throughout each term, offers students the chance to propose creative small-scale music projects that are supported by the Performance and Programming team.

Visiting artists for the events programme are encouraged to work with student groups, and recent such collaborations have included Jim Moray, Jacqui Dankworth and Rachel Unthank and The Winterset.

There are additional opportunities to perform outside of the RNCM, with some 500 engagements organised annually by the College’s Professional Development Team. A number of Music in Education and the Community projects also draw on performing skills.
