Freshers' Fortnight
In advance of all the studies and exercises, concertos and sequenzas, it is essential that everybody knows each other so that they can enjoy every moment of their time at the RNCM. So, term started with its usual mix of events to suit all tastes.
Ex-RNCM SU President Olly Hamilton led the Maerlock Big Band accompanying the first night of festivities at the traditional Freshers' Ceilidh. It was a well attended event and paved the way for the rest of the fortnight that featured a whole host of stars from the inside the College and out including Daddy Round and the Squares, Groove Street West, Mojito, Cai Isfryn & Oli Hickie, Big Train's Haymaker, Adam Smith, DJ Beach Balls, Shoshin', John Davies, Feldspar and Alex Berry to name but a few.
After all the Treasure Hunts, Flapper Parties, Harry Potters and Raves, the 2009 Freshers' experience ended with the Ball, that was held at the Hilton Manchester, Deansgate. Canapes, Champagne, James Toll and the Big Little Band rounded off what was undoubtedly a feast for all the senses. Time to get back to those scales............
