English Language Support
In-Sessional English Language Support
A copy of the IELTS certificate (or other recognised English test result) should be sent to the Admissions by 1 May although the original document still needs to be produced at the registration. Where an applicant's IELTS score is below that indicated, entry may still be possible with extra language support offered through the RNCM's Summer School and in-session English Language provision. Please fill in this form for advice.
Pre-Sessional English Language Course
Students can also enrol for the RNCM Pre-Sessional English Language course which is held each year (21 July > 3 September 2010). There is a minimum English requirement for the Course. (For details, please see the application form downloadable below.) The RNCM pre-sessional course is designed for students who need time to develop the necessary language skills before embarking on the rigours of a RNCM course of study. The pre-sessional course also provides an introduction to Britain and British culture, allowing students to become accustomed to the context of their new academic environment. To this end the course aims are:
- to develop and build confidence in using general English language skills through listening, speaking, reading and writing
- to develop the academic literacy necessary for students following an academic course at the RNCM
- to prepare students for independent learning
- to introduce aspects of British life and culture through visits to places of local interest
