RNCM Piano Spectacular- Sunday 31 January 2010
A celebration of John Wilson’s 70th Birthday in aid of the RNCM John Wilson Junior Fellowship in Piano in Accompaniment.
On Sunday 31 January 2010 the RNCM Piano Spectacular generated over £16,000 towards the RNCM John Wilson Junior Fellowship in Piano Accompaniment, which supports the advanced development of talented young pianists at the RNCM.
The capacity audience were treated to performances on no less than eight grand pianos by a host of eminent pianists. The distinguished line-up included RNCM Alumni Peter Donohoe, Julian Evans, John Gough, Peter Lawson, Nicholas Rimmer, Martin Roscoe, Graham Scott, Jonathan Scott, Keith Swallow, Andrew Wilde and John Wilson. There was also a special appearance by improvisation genius Harry Harris. John Brunning from Classic FM acted as compere and Tim Reynish conducted the eight piano works.

John Wilson Junior Fellowship in Piano Accompaniment
The Junior Fellowship in Piano Accompaniment, established after John Wilson’s retirement concert in 2005, provides young RNCM pianists the opportunity to launch their careers by giving them experience as professional working accompanists while receiving advanced training.
