2011 International Violin Competition to be launched at Violin Weekend
The RNCM will launch the 2011 RNCM International Violin Competition at The Virtuoso Violin RNCM Violin Weekend to be held between 12-14 March 2010.
The weekend of concerts, masterclasses, talks and demonstrations will celebrate virtuosity of violin playing. There will be opportunities to hear and learn from some of the world’s leading authorities on the violin, and to witness some of the brightest young talent from the RNCM and the UK’s leading music schools.
We are particularly delighted to welcome back the winner of the first RNCM International Violin Competition, Lorenzo Gatto, to perform on Saturday 13 March at 7.30pm. In addition, Elizabeth Wallfisch will give a recital of virtuoso baroque music and we feature masterclasses by some of the RNCM’s most eminent violin tutors, Maciej Rakowski, Leland Chen, Wen Zhou Li, Yair Kless and Levon Chilingirian.
There will also be an opportunity to see how a violin is created, alongside the many instrument and bow makers who will be exhibiting.
