RNCM ensemble to play at Edinburgh Quartet's 50th Anniversary Concert
RNCM ensemble, the Medlock Quartet, will perform as part of the Edinburgh Quartet's 50th Anniversary Concert at The Queen's Hall, Edinburgh on Friday 19 February at 7.30pm. Formed in September 2009, the Medlock Quartet consists of Patrick Curlett and Christopher Jones on violin, Robert Guy on viola and Anna Menzies on cello. They commented, "We are honoured to be playing with the highly esteemed Edinburgh Quartet and simply cannot wait to walk out on stage with them at Queen's Hall to perform Mendelssohn's Octet. We're absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to work with such fantastic musicians."
The Edinburgh Quartet is Scotland's premier string quartet. Resident at the Ian Tomlin School of Music, Edinburgh Napier University, and at the University of Glasgow, it is one of the UK's longest-established university-based professional quartets and is Scotland's only full-time chamber ensemble. Current members include RNCM alumnus violinist Tristan Gurney and viola player Michael Beeston who studied at the Royal Manchester College of Music.
