In Focus: Errollyn Wallen

The Observer described Errollyn Wallen as: ‘a renaissance woman of contemporary British music…’ Born in Belize, she left her dance training in Harlem to study composition at the universities of London and Cambridge. She formed her own Ensemble X and its motto: ‘We don’t break down barriers in music…we don’t see any…’ reflects her genuine, free-spirited approach and eclectic musicianship. She writes music that effortlessly flips between genres and styles, whether it’s through her pop-influenced songs or large-scale orchestral works, operas and chamber music. In the conversation session, you can her about her ideas, experiences and thought processes first hand.
