JRNCM Students Reach BBC Category Finals

Junior RNCM students Jess Gillam and Andrew Woolcock have reached the category finals of the 2016 BBC Young Musician of the Year.

Saxophonist Jess, aged 17, participated in the Woodwind category of the annual competition, held at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama between 6 – 10 March, while 16-year-old Andrew Woolcock took part in the Percussion category.

The BBC Young Musician of the Year competition is the UK’s leading contest for classical musicians. After an extensive audition process, five finalists were selected to compete in the Keyboard, Woodwind, Percussion, Brass and Strings categories, the results of which will be broadcast on BBC4 this month.
