Alumna Joins Jette Parker Young Artist Programme

Vocal alumna Angela Simkin is one of five new singers set to join the Jette Parker Young Artist Programme in September.

The mezzo-soprano, who graduated in 2004, was chosen from a pool of over 400 applicants from 50 countries to audition for the prestigious scheme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden last year.

Established in 2001, the Jette Parker Young Artist Programme supports the artistic development of young professional singers, conductors, directors and répétiteurs at the start of their careers. Placements last for two years, during which time Young Artists work on productions for The Royal Opera singing small roles, covering larger roles or joining the music or directing staff.

Angela (pictured above as Isdie in Giove in Argo, London Handel Festival) now joins a list of RNCM alumni who have benefitted from the scheme, including 1997 graduate Thomas Guthrie, who returns to the College in March to guest direct Così fan tutte.
