From Bach to Bond on Classic FM

Since Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Vass graduated from the RNCM in 2011 his career has certainly taken off.

To date the 25-year-old pianist, who was born in the Philippines and grew up in East Yorkshire, has performed for His Serene Highness Prince Albert and Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco at the golden jubilee of the Variety Club; taken to the stage in front of French, Filipino and Russian ambassadors; given performances on Radios 2, 3 and 6music; performed at venues throughout the UK, including The Bridgewater Hall, St Martin-in-the Fields, Steinway Hall and London’s West End; and has previously held the titles of Yamaha’s Unsigned Artist of the Month, The Independent’s One to Watch, and BBC Music Magazine’s Rising Star. Now he’s preparing to add Classic FM to this impressive list as the popular station will broadcast his début album, From Bach to Bond, on John Suchet’s flagship show this month.

Released last year, From Bach to Bond showcases Manny’s imaginative programming and eclectic tastes, and includes music by Bach, Chopin, Debussy and Gershwin in addition to his own arrangements of contemporary classics such as Bohemian Rhapsody and the James Bond theme – already big hits on YouTube.

He said: ‘I come from a non-classical background and grew up with all sorts of influences and musical tastes. I love the music from all the James Bond films, so I wanted to bring them together alongside the classical music and composers I also love.’

From Bach to Bond will feature on John Suchet’s programme tomorrow between 10am and 1pm and is available to download from iTunes. To learn more click here.
