RNCM Day of Percussion - Evening Concert Arthur Lipner with te RNCM Percussion Ensemble

Arthur Lipner with the RNCM Percussion Ensemble

American jazz vibes and marimba player, Arthur Lipner takes to the stage (accompanied by the RNCM Percussion Ensemble directed by Simone Rebello) to present a concert of music featuring several of his own compositions, including his recent concerto Mallet Fantasia. This piece is the culmination of a life-long dream for the composer. Training in the traditions of jazz and improvisation, which traditionally use small combos or Big Bands, Arthur always wanted to perform with an orchestra or wind ensemble but never really found music that would express his artistic visions. After taking courses at Juilliard, he has now realised that ambition: Mallet Fantasia is a mixture of themes and textures which refl ect Arthur's interests in jazz, world music and the orchestral traditions of America and Europe.
