For this Saturday lunchtime event, the RNCM Concert Orchestra is joined by RNCM alumnus Michael Jackson, who will perform the UK Première of Stanley Myers’ swansong, a piece that demonstrated the rich possibilities of symphonic jazz at the end of the 20th century. Originally written for John Harle and receiving its world première in Florida in 1992, Mike contacted Harle directly when he was having difficulty choosing a piece for the RNCM Concerto Competition. Harle agreed to send over the score and saxophone part for Mike to audition with, which had been in storage since it was recorded in 1995 and hadn’t been played publicly since.

Free admission, no ticket required
