Kim Begley

International Visiting Tutor

Throughout a career spanning more than three decades, Kim Begley has maintained a reputation as both a first-rate singer and a compelling actor. Remaining in demand for operatic engagements across Europe and North America, Kim has performed leading roles at the opera houses in Frankfurt, Milan, Barcelona, Dresden, Amsterdam and Berlin, as well as The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago and San Francisco Opera.

Versatility has been key to Kim’s long career: a recent highly-acclaimed return to English National Opera as Walter in David Pountney’s production of Weinberg’s The Passenger was followed by Captain Vere in David Alden’s new production of Billy Budd under Edward Gardner. Wagner’s Loge (Das Rheingold) has garnered Kim great personal acclaim over the years, including his Bayreuth Festival debut, La Scala Milan, The Met under James Levine and in the recent new production at L’Opéra national de Paris, conducted by Philippe Jordan. Recent additions to his already extensive repertoire include Sellem (The Rake’s Progress), Aegisth (Elektra) and the Male Chorus (Rape of Lucretia).
