Senior Tutor in Vocal Studies
Peter Alexander Wilson is an RNCM Principal Study Tutor within the School of Vocal Studies and Opera, a position he has held since 2001. From 1991 to 2008 Peter was also a Senior Vocal Tutor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music, and has taught in Italy at the Malatesta Scuola di Canto. He now directs the Arran Summer School in Scotland.
Peter studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and the RNCM where his study was supported by a Ralph Vaughan Williams Musical Trust scholarship. His professional début was with Glyndebourne Touring Opera and was followed by a principal contract at the Grande Theatre de Nancy. He has also enjoyed a busy career on the recital and oratorio platform throughout Britain and Europe.
Peter’s students have won the Monserrat Caballe and Richard Tauber international singing competitions and have been awarded scholarships from major UK funding bodies. His students have appeared as principals in international opera houses including Covent Garden, English National Opera and La Scala Milan.
