Rupert Burleigh

International Visiting Professor

Rupert Burleigh was a pupil of Hamish Milne and Geoffrey Pratley at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and then of Prof. David Wilde at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. His solo career began in the 1980’s with his first BBC Radio London broadcasts and a series of concerts for “Live Music Now”. In 1994, after his success at the Tokyo International Piano Competition, he was invited to his first concert tour of southern Japan. He became solo repetiteur of the Hessen State Opera Wiesbaden, Germany in 1996 and was Head of Music at  the Cologne Opera from 2001 to 2010. He is currently Head of Music at the Hamburg State Opera and teaches at the Hamburger Hochschule for Music.
