Six of the world’s leading brass brands, twelve world premières, nine outstanding soloists, plus the next generation of brass musicians – we can’t wait to welcome you to The RNCM International Brass Band Festival this January. View the full festival line-up.

Grimethorpe Education Initiative present and perform their exciting new project with Grimethorpe Youth Band, ‘A Grimethorpe Adventure’. Funded by Arts Council England, this play-along scheme invites young beginner players to learn a brass instrument alongside experienced band members whilst going on a musical quest.

Each part builds gradually in range and complexity, with an emphasis on fun as Kim the Canary discovers the exciting underground world of the Grimethorpe mines, complete with noise, trains, explosions.

This performance is supported by the John Golland Trust and will also include the world première of a newly discovered cornet solo by John Golland (written in 1984), performed by Grimethorpe’s principal cornet Jamie Smith and two world premières of works submitted to the Grimethorpe Colliery Band composition competition held in July 2023.
