RNCM Research Forum – Professor John Sloboda and Dr Alessandro Mazzola
Wednesday 17 March 2021, 4.15pm
The fifteenth edition of our new Sir John Manduell Research Forum series features a discussion with Professor John Sloboda and Dr Alessandro Mazzola, Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Music for Social Impact: An International Comparative Study of Musician Practitioners
Who are the musicians who work in socially engaged music projects and what informs their practice? This presentation will outline the aims and scope of a 3-year AHRC-funded study and present findings from a initial documentary scoping of the field (in four countries, Belgium, Colombia, Finland, and the UK), along with preliminary UK data from an online survey of practitioners. We will discuss next steps and challenges for the work, and open a discussion of how findings from research such as this may assist the further development of reflective practice.
This free event will be streamed Live from the RNCM YouTube channel. To watch, please click on the LIVESTREAM button below.
