Two of the North West’s leading choirs join forces to perform Walton’s magnificent Belshazzar’s Feast in what promises to be an unmissable concert.
A controversial masterpiece when it was unveiled in 1931, Belshazzar’s Feast is a dramatic and edgy composition with multiple rhythmic changes. A contrasting but equally operatic experience will be provided by the two supporting pieces – Elgar’s Great is the Lord and selections from Verdi’s Nabucco.
The choirs will be joined on stage by the acclaimed National Festival Orchestra and baritone soloist David Cane, who is also Oldham Choral’s Musical Director. The conductor is Tom Newall, Music Director of Salford Choral Society.
