Applicants for the research degrees programme (MPhil / PhD) at RNCM are normally expected to hold a good Master’s degree (MMus, MA, MSc or equivalent) in a relevant subject. They should have undertaken training in research methods, and produced a dissertation, project report or portfolio of compositions or performances which has been awarded a mark of at least 65%, by the time of enrolment.
Minimum scores on language tests are required for entry to all programmes of study at RNCM and MMU. For the research degrees programme, these are 7.0 for each component in an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test of reading, writing, speaking and listening, or UKVI-approved equivalent, taken no more than 12 months prior to the date of application.
