Congratulations to pianist George Needham, selected as a 2019 Leeds Lieder Festival Young Artist alongside his duo partner, vocalist Natasha Drake.
Established last year, the Young Artist scheme invites 10 duos, aged 30 or under, to immerse themselves in the annual festival, with opportunities to perform and participate in masterclasses with artists such as Malcolm Martineau and Angelika Kirschlager.
The festival also offers a £1,000 prize (awarded by the Schubert Institute) and further a performance opportunity at the 2019/20 University of Leeds International Concert Series to the duo with most potential at the conclusion of the final masterclass.
