Music Needs Musicians

As the RNCM looks to the future with the launch of a 2026-36 Strategic Plan Powering the Music of Tomorrow – we know that philanthropic support will be critical to fuelling the conservatoire’s long-term ambitions, and making our plans, a reality.

To achieve this, we are launching Music Needs Musicians – a 10-year fundraising campaign (2026-2036) to raise over £50 million

It distils what we do, back to its core. That without musicians – who are trained, nurtured, and equipped to thrive out in the industry – we are left with nothing.

By supporting music students, our spaces, our communities, and our distinctive approach to music education, philanthropy will help us nurture the next generation of musicians and ensure that music continues to enrich lives for years to come.

Powering the Music of Tomorrow

With your support, we will raise £50 million by 2036.

Investment will support four key pillars:

  1. RNCM Awards – providing Student Support, funding bursaries and scholarships – with a target to raise the number of students we support from 1 in 3 to 1 in 2
  2. RNCM RENEW, supporting our ambitious capital plans
  3. RNCM Futures –support for our teaching approach and pioneering model of music training (funding projects from masterclasses to professional experience schemes to pop festivals)
  4. RNCM Engage – funding the essential work we do with children and young people
