John Harle unearths long lost concerto for RNCM Masterclass
It has come to light ahead of tonight’s RNCM Masterclass with John Harle that the prolific film composer Stanley Myers wrote a saxophone concerto for John back in the early 1990s. The score has been tucked away in Harle’s basement ever since he recorded it in 1995 – and tonight is a rare opportunity to hear this piece performed live by one of our saxophone students, Mike Jackson, alongside the great man himself for a special Masterclass.
Most well known for his many film and television scores, Myers wrote music for 130 film and television projects, among them The Deer Hunter (1978) which featured his Cavatina for guitar, The Border (1979), and six episodes in 1964 from the popular English TV series Doctor Who.
