Welcome to the RNCM Day of Percussion, our annual day of inspirational clinics and performances from leading educators and artists. We’re thrilled to welcome the Aurora Duo, whose evening performance will pack a punch with a variety of musical styles and instruments on display. Ash Soan makes a welcome return with a fascinating session on playing both with singers and in the recording studio, and Cormac Byrne takes us on a journey through the world of Irish and folk percussion.
We will also be joined by the renowned marimba player Ivana Bilić for a class focussing on the techniques of improvisation throughout history, and RSNO Principal Timpanist Paul Philbert offers advice and a real insight into the life of a busy professional musician.
There are opportunities for lessons with staff from the RNCM Percussion department alongside an extensive trade exhibition for all to enjoy throughout the day.
For younger visitors and their accompanying adults, we’re offering a morning ticket for both the opening concert of the day, featuring our very own Percussion Ensemble, followed by several workshops suitable for a wide variety of abilities and interests.
I look forward to seeing you there.
