Director of Finance

Salary Grade: Commensurate with seniority of post
Closing date: 12 Noon, Monday 16 October 2023
Interview date: Week commencing Monday 30 October 2023

The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) is a leading international conservatoire located in the heart of Manchester, with a reputation for attracting talented students, teachers, conductors and composers from all over the world. With a £21 million turnover, the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) is one of the world’s most progressive specialist Higher Education Institutions, home to both a dynamic conservatoire and thriving live music venue.

Building on the success of our 50th anniversary year, the RNCM continues to be a hugely innovative and ambitious organisation. The College is looking to appoint a Director of Finance, who will have a unique opportunity to make a difference and shape the future of a world-leading creative institution.

A member of the Executive Committee, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership to the RNCM’s Finance, Business Systems Development and IT departments, while liaising regularly with and advising the Principal, Board of Governors and senior colleagues.

With clear experience in developing strategic and operational plans, managing institutional risk, and analysing data, the successful candidate will also be a key player in student number planning and in the continual development of the College as it responds to global shifts in the demand, understanding and appreciation of music of all genres. Whilst an understanding of finance within either the higher education or arts sector is essential, an appreciation of both would be ideal. Development and support can be provided for the right person.
