Daniel Kidane releases debut portrait album

Congratulations to RNCM alumnus Daniel Kidane on the release of his debut portrait album, FAST/SLOW, released today (30 Oct) on NMC Recordings.

Bringing together six works written between 2016 and 2025, FAST/SLOW showcases Daniel’s distinctive compositional voice through performances by leading ensembles and artists including the BBC Philharmonic, Manchester Camerata, BBC Singers, Carducci Quartet and London Symphony Orchestra, under conductors including Sir Simon Rattle and Andrew Gourlay.

The album explores themes of memory, grief, transformation, and renewal, from the Manchester-inspired energy of Sirens to the reflective beauty of Sun Poem. Together, these works offer a compelling portrait of a composer whose music continues to resonate with audiences across the UK and beyond.

Daniel studied composition at the RNCM with Gary Carpenter and David Horne and became an RNCM Associate Artist in 2020. Since graduating, he has established himself as one of Britain’s most exciting composers, receiving accolades including a Royal Philharmonic Society Prize and a Paul Hamlyn Award for Artists.
