A4 Brass and Toby Hughes are CMF Artists

Congratulations to A4 Brass Quartet and double bassist Toby Hughes, selected as 2018 City Music Foundation Artists.

Chosen from over 150 applicants, A4 Brass (Jamie Smith, Jonathan Bates, Michael Cavanagh and Chris Robertson) who have just started their studies on our International Artist Diploma course, and 2016 alum Toby, were selected through a series of audition stages, culminating in a final live audition.

They will now engage in an innovative two-year programme which includes artistic and business mentoring as well as professional development workshops on topics such as managing finances, tax and pensions, legal input on copyright and contracts, and plus presentation and interview skills. CMF Artists also receive help to develop promotional tools, such as websites, photos, recordings and videos, as well as live performance opportunities.

Finally the musicians are fully supported by CMF in devising, organising, funding and promoting a bespoke musical project to help them develop a unique niche and selling point.
