Jack Sheen, our Junior Fellow in Conducting, is one of six young composers to feature on a new album by NMC Recordings.
Next Wave 2 is a partnership project between Sound and Music, NMC Recordings and Sage Gateshead, designed to support and promote composers in higher education as they transition into the professional music industry.
Following a nine-month artist development programme involving workshops with multi-instrumentalist Quinta (Bat for Lashes, Penguin Café), mezzo-soprano Lore Lixenberg and accordionist Luke Carver Goss, with soloists from the Royal Northern Sinfonia, the six composers all produced a new piece to be premiered, alongside an album launch event, at the Sage Gateshead on 27 January.
