OMF helps pupils Feel the Beat

The Olympias Music Foundation (OMF), founded by alumna Jo Yee Cheung, has released a short documentary showcasing their work with pupils at St John Vianney RC School.

The inspiring Feel the Beat project saw the OMF work alongside a music and movement facilitator to present creative workshops for children with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs.

The film was created by students within Manchester Metropolitan University’s filmmaking department, the results of which have sparked a new partnership between the charity and ManMet.  John Lloyd, Lecturer in Filmmaking, said: ‘After seeing and hearing of the wonderful work the OMF were doing we jumped at the chance for our students to be involved. Zane and Joe have already spoken about what a great experience it was for them and how the collaboration has impacted the way they can utilise their skills to help tell meaningful stories of the wider community.’

St John Vianney is situated in Stretford, Manchester. Since 2019, the OMF has delivered weekly music and movement workshops to 40 students, helping them to explore their surroundings and communicate through creativity.
