RNCM launches Strategic Plan at the House of Lords

The RNCM celebrated the London launch of its new 10-year strategic plan, Powering the Music of Tomorrow, at a special reception at the House of Lords on Tue 20 Oct.

Hosted by Lord Brady of Altrincham, the event brought together guests from government, Parliament, education, culture, and the music industry to explore the vital role that specialist music education plays in developing the next generation of musicians and creative leaders.

The afternoon featured performances by RNCM students across our classical and popular music programmes, alongside contributions from internationally acclaimed pianist and alumna Alexandra Dariescu, BBC Head of Orchestras and Choirs Simon Webb, RNCM President Sir John Tomlinson, and postgraduate tenor Jay Broadhurst. Discussions highlighted the importance of investing in musical talent, supporting the creative industries, and strengthening regional cultural infrastructure.

The event also provided an opportunity to showcase the RNCM’s ambitious vision for the future and announce a number of new initiatives, including RNCM Futures+, RNCM Teach, and RNCM Renew.
