RNCM Library Wins Excellence Award

The RNCM Library is one of the recipients of the Excellence Awards for Music Libraries 2012 from the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives & Documentation Centres: United Kingdom and Ireland Branch.

The award was presented to the College Librarian by the Chair of the Awards Panel, Professor Jan Smaczny (University of Belfast), at the IAML(UK & Irl) Annual Study Weekend in Cardiff earlier this month.

The citation for the award reads: ‘An active and focused conservatoire library with an excellent stock including a range of internationally significant special collections. The RNCM is particularly strong in its collaboration with other libraries both in Manchester (such as the John Rylands and Henry Watson libraries) and the wider North West via NoWAL. It places a clear emphasis on engagement with users through an in-depth annual survey, tours of the library for new users and prospective students, and representation on College working groups.’
