RNCM Tenor Wins International Prize

Third year tenor Kamil Bien has won Third Prize at the 51st Antonin Dvořák International Singing Competition.

Held in Karlsbad in the Czech Republic between 4 and 11 November, the competition is open to singers from across the world and is divided into two main categories: Opera (for singers up to the age of 35) and Junior (for singers up to the age of 24).

Kamil, whose studies are supported by an ABRSM scholarship, secured his prize in the Junior Category, where he also picked up an additional award for his interpretation of a Mozart aria.

He said: ‘I am so grateful for the tuition I’m receiving at the RNCM and for the ABRSM scholarship, without which I wouldn’t have been able to participate in this competition.’

In January Kamil won the inaugural International Individual Vocal Competition of Sacred Music, Ars et Gloria. Read this story here.
