A4 Brass Performs at Brassed Off Red Carpet Event

Congratulations to A4 Brass on their fantastic red carpet performance on 9 May to mark the 21st birthday screening of the classic British film Brassed Off at the Royal Albert Hall.

Jamie Smith (cornet), Jonathan Bates (tenor horn), Michael Cavanagh (baritone) and Chris Robertson (euphonium) were invited to play before the event as cast and crew reunited to watch a special screening accompanied by the Grimethorpe Colliery Band and members of the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

Some 4500 fans packed into the Hall to witness a piece of British cinema history as Brassed Off became the first British film to receive the ‘film with live orchestra’ treatment.

Speaking on behalf of the quartet, which wore the famous Grimley band jacket seen in the film, Michael said: ‘The event was amazing! A packed Albert Hall loved it and it was one of the best concerts we’ve done!’
