Aled Tudor Marshman appointed RNCM Head of Junior Programmes

We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Aled Tudor Marshman as Head of Junior Programmes.

Currently Director of Music at Theatr Clwyd and Manager of Fintshire County Council Music Services, Aled has extensive experience in delivering music education to young people.

Between 2005 and 2019 he was Manager of North Wales Youth Orchestra, and worked for several years as a peripatetic violin and viola teacher.

As Head of Junior Programmes, Aled will take strategic leadership of the College’s pre-18 music education provision. This includes Pathfinder, an innovative widening access programme, Young Programmes, incorporating the College’s Engage Education work, and Junior RNCM, our centre for advanced training.

Since 1998, Junior RNCM has been led by the inspirational Karen Humphreys MBE, who is due to retire later this year. Joining in July, Aled will work alongside Karen throughout the summer to ensure a smooth and thorough handover for staff and students.

He said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled to begin this exciting new chapter in my career. I hope my expertise and passion for music will continue to enhance the wonderful work of all the talented musicians involved at Junior RNCM, building on Karen’s incredible legacy.’

Jennie Henley, Director of Programmes, added: ‘I’m really delighted to welcome Aled to the RNCM to continue the brilliant work established by Karen over the past 25 years and to develop our wider suite of junior programmes. He brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to inspiring young musicians to develop their passion for music making and achieve the highest standards, ultimately transforming young people’s lives through music.’
