Alumna chosen for RSNO Composer Hub programme

Alumna Anna Appleby is one of five composers selected for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra’s 2017/18 Composer Hub programme.

Anna, who graduated in 2016, will now spend the 2017/18 season with the RSNO, gaining the opportunity to write for the orchestra in a range of different contexts, develop skills and creative relationships, and acquire an understanding of the business of how the orchestra works.

All five composers will also work towards a 10-minute piece for full symphony orchestra, one of which will be chosen to be performed by the RSNO as part of its 2018/19 season.

Gary Carpenter, a mentor on the scheme and an RNCM Professor of Composition, said: ‘I am excited and honoured to have been invited to mentor these gifted young professionals on the RSNO Composers’ Hub, one of the most important and vital opportunities available to young composers in the UK today.’
