Alumna wins Clonter Opera Prize

Congratulations to alum Alexandra Lowe, winner of this year’s Clonter Opera Prize.

The 2017 graduate, who also won the Audience Vote, was one of six young singers to compete in this year’s competition, including RNCM postgraduate Iain Henderson and alum Arthur Bruce.

Writing on Facebook, Alexandra said: ‘I’m so honoured to be the winner of the 2019 Clonter Opera Prize and the Audience Prize. Thanks to everyone who voted – I had a great time.’

Now in its 45th year, Clonter Opera provides the highest quality training and performance opportunities for young singers with the aim of bridging the gap between conservatoire and professional work. To date, numerous RNCM students and alumni have benefitted from its Opera Studio, established through the Clonter Farm Music Trust (CFMT).

Alexandra, who performed leading roles in RNCM Operas including Kurt Weill’s Street Scene, Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte and Handel’s Theordora, will return to Clonter in July to perform Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni.
