Alumni recognised in Queen’s New Year Honours

Congratulations to RNCM alumni Steven Osborne and Alpesh Chauhan who received OBEs in the Queen’s New Year Honours.

Steven, a multi-award-winning concert pianist and recording artist, was awarded the prestigious accolade for services to music while Alpesh, Music Director of the Birmingham Opera Company, Associate Conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, was recognised for his service to the arts.

Alpesh said: ‘It was a happy surprise to find out that I had been awarded an OBE…I appreciate the recognition and the prestige of the award very much.’

We’d also like to extend our congratulations to Professor Malcolm Press, Vice Chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan University, who received a CBE for services to Higher Education and Technical Education.
