Alumni Shortlisted for Gramophone Awards
RNCM alumni Stephen Hough, Alice Coote and the Heath Quartet have been shortlisted for 2016 Gramophone Awards.
Stephen, the RNCM’s International Chair in Keyboard Studies who graduated in 1981, appears in the Instrumental category with Grieg Lyric Pieces (Hyperion); 1993 mezzo-soprano Alice Coote competes in the Solo Vocal category with L’heure Exquise (Hyperion); and the Heath Quartet (pictured), which formed at the College in 2002, is in the Chamber category thanks to its Wigmore Hall Live recording of Tippett’s String Quartets.
This year’s awards are divided into 12 main sections, each featuring six shortlisted recordings. The results will be announced on 22 August ahead of the London ceremony on 15 September.
