Jan Wierzba is Assistant Conductor of Netherlands Philharmonic

Alumnus Jan Wierzba has been appointed Assistant Conductor of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.

The 2015 graduate was one of 300 conductors to apply for the position, eight of which were chosen to audition with the orchestra before a final three were selected to attend an interview.

The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and its partner the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra are the principal orchestras for the Dutch National Opera and regularly perform classical concerts in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Jan’s two-year appointment will see him assist Chief Conductor Marc Albrecht in numerous symphonic projects as well as working alongside the opera company in a full-scale production.
