Alumnus Wins Dutch Classical Talent Award
Cellist and RNCM alumnus Joris van den Berg has won the prestigious 2014 Dutch Classical Talent Award.
Held at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam on Sunday 18 May, the competition is open to young classical singers and instrumentalists and forms part of Dutch Classical Talent, an intensive programme of masterclasses, coaching and recitals throughout the Netherlands.
Joris, who was accompanied by pianist Martijn Willers, was one of three competitors to reach the final, and performed works by Brahms, Britten and Lutsolawski to secure a first prize of 10,000 euros, a bronze statue designed by Marianne Houtkamp, and a place in the Hall of Fame at the Recital Hall of the Royal Concertgebouw.
Dutch Classical Talent is organised by the Royal Concertgebouw, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Dutch Concert Halls, Radio 4 and the JCP Foundation.
