Alumnus Wins ROSL Section Final
RNCM alumnus Huw Wiggin has won the Wind and Percussion Section Finals of the 2014 Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL) ARTS competition.
Saxophonist Huw, who graduated in 2008, walked away with the £5000 prize on Tuesday 4 February, and now has the chance to compete for the Gold Medal and First Prize in the ROSL Annual Music Competition held at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, on Tuesday 6 May.
Celebrating its 62nd anniversary, the ROSL ARTS, the arts division of the Royal Over-Seas League, has developed a diverse portfolio of arts activities in music, visual arts and literature. It is devoted to the career development of talented young professional artists and musicians from the UK and the Commonwealth, and also presents readings and literary events at its central London Headquarters.
To date, numerous RNCM students and alumni have achieved success in the competition. Last year, the Tempest Flute Trio (Sarah Bennett, Holly Melia and Helen Wilson) won the ROSL ARTS Ensemble Award, just 12 months after the Aurora Percussion Duo (Le Yu and Delia Stevens) won in the same category.
