BAFTA-nominated Composer in 2015 Hall of Fame
RNCM composer Grant Kirkhope has been listed in Classic FM’s 2015 Hall of Fame.
The 1984 BAFTA-nominated alumnus is recognised for his prolific catalogue of video game soundtracks, two of which appear in the top 50 of this year’s list.
In at No 13 is the score to Banjo-Kazooie, an action adventure game for Nintendo 64 and Xbox 360, while the music to the fun-packed Viva Piñata for Xbox 360 appears at No 41.
LA-based Grant, who has written soundtracks to games including GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64, Perfect Dark and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, all of which have sold in excess of 25 million copies, studied trumpet at the RNCM and has toured extensively, performing as part of opening acts for Van Halen, Bon Jovi, ZZ Top and Bryan Adams.
Grant’s impressive portfolio also sees him rated as the Hall of Fame’s most popular composer for listeners aged 35 and under.
