Black Dyke Wins British Open Championship
The Black Dyke Band has won the 2014 British Open Championship, held at Symphony Hall, Birmingham this month.
Led by Nicholas Childs, recently granted the title of Professor by the RNCM, Black Dyke last won the prestigious competition in 2006, with this year’s result taking their total number of wins to a record-breaking 13.
Talking to 4barsrest, Professor Childs said: ‘What an amazing band they are: so eager, committed, dedicated, and determined to win more major championships. They have so much potential too – so the next few years could be the most exciting for us.’
Black Dyke, together with Foden’s, are partners in the RNCM’s Platform scheme, which offers exceptional performance opportunities and educational experience to students.
