Bonnie Kemplay wins Radio 1 Live Lounge competition

Huge congratulations to popular music student Bonnie Kemplay, winner of the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge Introducing competition.

Announced yesterday (26 April), the 19-year-old was one of 10,000 entries vying to gain an incredible opportunity to perform in the world-famous Live Lounge.

The second year undergraduate now has the chance to present original track Blushing, along with a surprise cover, during Clara Amfo’s show this Thursday (29 April).

Bonnie said: ‘I will be pinching myself for quite some time. I’ve watched Radio 1’s Live Lounge for a long time and have always thought that it would be amazing to get to play one day. I just didn’t expect that day to be this week!’

Judge Arlo Parks added: ‘What I can see in her is the voice and the potential. And we’re talking about live music and you can imagine kids just going crazy to that!’
