Brandt Attema joins the RNCM as International Visiting Tutor in Trombone

We are delighted to announce that bass trombonist Brandt Attema has joined our School of Wind, Brass and Percussion as International Visiting Tutor in Trombone.

Performing as a soloist in chamber music ensembles and orchestras worldwide, Brandt is a member of the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, Slide Monsters, a trombone quartet that connects classical and jazz, and the New Trombone Collective. He is also one half of the first bass trombone and harp duo with Astrid Haring.

Brandt Attema plays trombone.

Brandt performed with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra between 1999 and 2019 before joining the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe as a Professor of Trombone.

Extending the repertoire for bass and contrabass trombone is of great interest to Brandt. He invites composers to write new repertoire, borrow repertoire from other instruments and also add instruments in order to create new, unexpected combinations. He inspires his students to discover endless possibilities in their work.
