Carmel Smickersgill nominated for Rising Star with Apple Music Award

Huge congratulations to composition alumna Carmel Smickersgill, nominated for a Rising Star Award with Apple Music.

Part of the Ivor Novello Awards, this fantastic accolade honours young British and Irish songwriting and composing talent who demonstrate exceptional potential and ambition. New for 2020, it aims to develop, promote and accelerate the careers of all nominees via a yearlong mentorship scheme with Apple Music.

Based in Manchester, Carmel works predominantly with classical and electronic genres, and is the recipient of the 2019 Christopher Brooks Prize with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Thanks to this nomination, she now has the chance to enhance her networks and receive advice and guidance from industry mentors, including Nile Rodgers, Fraser T Smith, Kamille, Anna Meredith and David Arnold.
